Early Childhood Education (ECE) has gone up a few notches since the good old Montessori days. With advancements in media and information technology, the works and researches done over time by educators and human/child development experts like Waldorf, Rudolf Steiner and many more have found the keen eye of more and more parents and tutors worldwide. The past decade or two has especially contributed to the growth in awareness of the importance of ECE.
The retro thinking of the traditional “R’s” (Reading, ‘Riting and ‘Rithmetic) and using it as a yardstick to measure learning, has now progressed to the new “R's” of Respect, Responsibility, Resourcefulness, that refer to social skills and positive character development. These new defined “R's” have been shown to be the most important factors in a child's personal and professional success, out-ranking academic achievement, socio-economic status or professional or personal connections.
More and more parents and educators now realize that:
A) ECE is the key element that helps in building a strong foundation for child's educational success.
B) Every child learns habit and form patterns that are not easily changed in later years.
C) Parents and educators need to develop productive early education patterns for the children in their charge to ensure great educational, personal and professional success later in life for them.
With this realization also came the realization of the widening gap between the need and availability of trained educators, teachers to bring the benefits of these new methods of ECE to the beneficiaries, the children. Even the parents today seek such training and most often find themselves against a wall as such training is still limited to a handful of institutes and cities across the nation/globe.
Today the management and educational planners of pre-schools find themselves under increased pressures from parents to provide quality and in-line intellectual, emotional and personal care to their children. To mitigate these pressures and to bridge the gap between supply and demand of trained ECE teachers, we have taken it upon ourselves to be the pioneers in training the in-service and wannabe educators, parents in latest Developmentally Appropriate Practices and Teaching Methodologies in ECE.
With a two fold objective of our Holistic Teacher Training Program (HTTP) of firstly, to bring the teachers of India abreast of the global trends and researches on teaching methodologies and secondly to answer the growing concerns for quality of education imparted, we are pleased to announce the Certificate Course in Early Childhood Education designed by Dr Reeta Sonawat, HoD, Department of Human and Child Development, SNDT Women's University, Mumbai and SSDEI Inc., New York, USA as our content partners.
